FPV Drone Interfaces

We’ve already spent some time learning the basics of piloting drones, from choosing the right one for you to the rules and laws that go into operating them safely. And that safety part is extremely important, which is why Brian and Jason weren’t allowed to fly one.

This time, we’re exploring the world of FPV (first-person view) drone interfaces, which allow you to see from the drone’s perspective through some sweet-ass futuristic goggles. Obviously, this setup makes it much easier to fly around, over, and under things than you can with your eyeballs alone. It’s almost like playing a video game, except this “level” is the real world and crashing can result in several hundred dollars worth of damage to expensive equipment.

Fortunately, there are entry level drones and goggles if you just want to try it out, but also really advanced setups if you want to feel like you’re living in the future. And as we found out before, there are a ton of different options in between, depending on your skill level and budget. So we once again invited Kelly Shores from Ready Set Drone to explain all this stuff and show us how it works.

Oh, and he let Brian and Jason try it out. Yikes.
